Let me brief you what affiliate marketing is all about. Affiliate marketing is an online marketing practice and a common network connecting publishers, advertisers and affiliate where both the parties benefit from each other. One website is paid just for driving traffic to another site. As I have written about PPC is one of the ways for making money (increased traffic leads to increase sales and ultimately leads) and gaining ranking quickly, affiliate is another stronger tool for making money online directly.

Coming to affiliate marketing, it is one of the online marketing quickest ways of making money online. There are many well known affiliates available few of them are: Google Adsense, AdBrite, BidAdvertiser, Amazon, AuctionAds.

Affiliate channel offers opportunities for expansion of their network by monetizing it for advertisers and publishers both.

Using the affiliate networks advertisers can easily find publishers and refer traffic to advertiser’s site. As a publisher you can find advertisers; once advertisers find publishers, advertisers earn for referring the website.

Are all affiliate marketing programs the same??

NO, all are different and secret lies in selecting a program that offers maximum return on sales and have wide variety of products like Amazon. A website is required from your site and promoting that is not included in affiliate program. Affiliate adds a code to your website and when this affiliate website is visited affiliate receives commission for this; this commission may be percentage or flat rate.

There are basically two main categories of affiliate programs:
Pay Per Click (PPC): In PPC affiliate marketing program merchant pays affiliate for the visitor who is referred to merchant site click through merchant’s text ad or banner ad. In this case affiliate is paid even though visitor does not make any purchase.

Pay Per Performance (PPP): In this affiliate program type affiliate is paid only when a visitor makes purchase, here merchant saves a lot at the same affiliate also benefits a good ratio as generally high percentage of actual sale is paid to affiliate.

Pay Per Performance is further classified as: Pay Per Sale (PPS) and Pay Per Lead (PPL).

Affiliate programs are also categorized as one-tier, two-tier and multi-tier and also as residual income affiliate program.
